Anniversaries are a useful way to set system reminders for events such as new product renewals, appointment reminders and birthday offers, or any task associated with a specific date or time. Reminders can trigger an email or SMS and can be customised for a more targeted approach. Automation anniversaries are a ‘set and forget’ function to make the marketing teams life easier.

There are 3 options to create an email anniversary

  • Anniversary: Use this tab to schedule anniversary emails that go out yearly on the same date, such as birthday reminders.
  • Specific date: Schedule recurrent emails on a specific date. This is commonly used for things like subscription reminders, software upgrades, appointment reminders or points expiry etc.
  • Custom: Rather than triggering by date or time you can set custom criteria for the campaign to go to customers that meet that criteria on selection from drop down; every day, selected days of the week, first day of each month, last day of each month or a specific day each month. This could be used for something like a car service reminder or stock order reminders etc.

Anniversary Email definitions:

Anniversaries: are events that you can trigger email or SMS reminders for by setting a trigger for a specific date or time.

Name: This is the internal naming category. Be sure to choose a name that will be easy to search and identify later, we recommend including dates.

Status: You can switch the anniversary alert on or off by clicking this button

Description: Optional field, this can be a useful reference for internal teams

For contacts on this list: Select the list you would like to reference for the anniversary alerts to go to.

Using this date field: Select the date field reference from the drop down menu (all contacts with this start date)

Send this email: Select the email that you would like to send from the drop down menu. You must have created the email first.

Time of day to send: Set the time you want the email to send here

Allow Email Duplicate: This is a setting to allow the contact to receive the email more than once for example if you are sending the same email weekly. If you do select this the system will automatically not send duplicates.

Tags: Optional field for search and grouping purposes. A list of all Tags can be found by selecting Tags in the dropdown menu under your account name.

How to create an Email Anniversary:

  1. Click Automations in the top menu
  2. Select Email in the left menu
  3. Select Anniversary in the left menu
  4. Click the green ‘Create Anniversary Email’ button top left
  5. Complete all details on the Anniversary tab

  6. Click blue Save button

How to create a custom anniversary:

  1. Click Automations in the top menu
  2. Select Email in the left menu
  3. Select Anniversary in the left menu
  4. Click the green ‘Create Anniversary Email’ button top left
  5. Complete all details on the Custom tab

  6. You can add multiple conditions and condition groups under Custom Criteria section.
  7. Click the blue Save button.
